Manchester City vs Inter Milan Preview
There are not many, if any, more daunting trips across Europe than going to City’s Etihad Stadium. The Premier League champions and perennial Champions League favourites are relentless in their pursuit of more silverware and have started the 2024-25 domestic season with four wins out of four – the only side to have done so in the English top flight.
The main reason for this is, unsurprisingly, the electric form of Erling Haaland. The brutish Norwegian striker has already scored nine goals in just four Premier League games, seemingly intent on smashing every goalscoring record that he can.
Meanwhile in Italy, Inter Milan have started their season unbeaten, with their two wins sandwiched between two draws, and are currently in second place behind Napoli in the Serie A table.
Their two draws have both come away from home, which suggests a slight weakness when on the road, and that does not bode well ahead of this match. Interestingly, Inter’s trip to the Etihad comes just before the Milan derby this weekend, so it is not ideal to have that fixture looming.
But Italian teams are famous for their defensive resilience, and it is going to take a lot of that to stop Haaland and the rest of City’s attacking threats from starting the new Champions League season with a win.
