West Ham vs Chelsea Preview

The Premier League gave us some stunning clashes on Matchday 4 and we do not expect this weekend to be any different.

One of the standout fixtures is the London derby between West Ham and Chelsea. On opposing sides of a transitional period, the Hammers cannot seem to make things click with their host of new faces, while Chelsea’s stars seem to finally be finding their feet.

West Ham vs Chelsea Preview

The home side have had a tough run so far and sit 14th with one win, a draw and two losses. Julen Lopetegui’s side are a little stuck and need to make a big statement sooner rather than later.

Their team is vibrant and exciting on paper, but it has not quite gelled as of yet after a busy summer transfer window.

However, the perfect time to get in the mood after salvaging a late 1-1 draw at Fulham last time out would be a derby against rivals Chelsea, who could be the first big scalp of many for the Hammers in this very important season.

In order to do so, they will need to see more impact from their big-money signings, namely Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Crysencio Summerville.

Chelsea have such talent to call upon and are making steady progress after a 1-0 win over Bournemouth last Saturday. They go into this match eighth in the table with aspirations of climbing much higher before the season is done.

With two wins, a draw and a loss to their name so far, the Blues may be building a head of steam, while manager Enzo Maresca has taken the decision to omit key players from Chelsea’s Europa Conference League squad in order to rest them for these kind of Premier League exploits.

Cole Palmer is one of the names being saved for the league and looks to be repeating his heroics from last year. Maresca will need him at the top of his game at the London Stadium.

Overall, Chelsea have been a bit inconsistent this season and against strong opposition like West Ham, they will probably need to be at their best to take three points back to West London.

It should be a fascinating clash!

West Ham vs Chelsea Betting Tips

Ice Cole

Palmer is Chelsea’s main man and will be eager to add to his one Premier League goal for the 2024-25 campaign thus far. Chelsea to win and Palmer to score is at 3.60 in a combo bet.

Forward Thinking

Clean sheets have not been easy to come by for either side this term, with each outfit keeping only one apiece in the Premier League. As such, both teams to score at 1.46 looks a great bet.

Hammer Time

Most of West Ham’s promise going forward this season has come from the familiar source of captain Jarrod Bowen. The England international has started the season as he left off and looks ready to continue cementing himself as one of the division’s top wingers. Bowen to score anytime is at 3.11.
