Both of these sides go into this match on the back of Champions League encounters against Premier League teams.
Inter were impressive as they held Manchester City to a 0-0 draw at the Etihad, while Milan were lacklustre against Liverpool and suffered a 3-1 loss – a performance which prompted a furious reaction from the fans at full-time.
Paulo Fonseca’s side have only recorded one win in Serie A thus far, while their local rivals are undefeated with two wins and two draws, including an impressive 4-0 victory over Atalanta.
The form book points to a comfortable victory for Italian champs Inter, however, derby matches always have a different feel to them.
But if Milan are to win, they will need to take far less risks playing out from the back, particularly with star goalkeeper Mike Maignan set to be absent through injury.
If the Rossoneri surrender possession near to their goal, the likes of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram will be on hand to punish.
Simone Inzaghi’s Inter are also very strong defensively, evidenced by their performance at the Etihad, and boast a far stronger midfield unit in Nicolo Barella, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Hakan Calhanoglu.
Milan may need to be perfect to get one over on their rivals and the best team in Italy at this moment in time.
Although one area they should look to target is the flanks. The pace and skill possessed by Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic, as well as the hold up play of Alvaro Morata, can exploit the space left behind by Inter’s marauding wing-backs.
Inter won both derbies last season and claimed a 5-1 victory when acting as the home side last September.

Copa America Golden Boot winner Martinez has not delivered this season but after a rest against City, he is 4.75 to open the scoring, while strike partner Thuram is 5.40. Morata is intriguingly priced at 9.10 in this market.
