Manchester United vs FC Twente Preview
United qualified for the Europa League by winning the FA Cup final against arch rivals Manchester City, in what was an otherwise disappointing 2023-24 season.
And after a shaky(ish) start in the Premier League, some questions still need to be answered when they face Twente tomorrow night. The Red Devils have a squad packed with international players and established stars, yet they cannot seem to get everything to fall into place.
A plethora of summer signings should have boosted their performances but six games into the season and with only three wins, some doubts are once again being raised over manager Erik Ten Hag. This places even more emphasis on the Europa League and a strong campaign could do wonders for the boss and new ownership.
As such, United will hope for a convincing start against a Twente side that Ten Hag should know well following his previous stint as Ajax boss.
Twente have enjoyed a slightly stronger start to the 2024-25 campaign. They currently sit fourth in the Eredivisie, with attacking midfielder Sem Steijn leading the way for goals in the division with six.
And unlike the Red Devils, Twente have nothing to lose in this European match, so may play with more freedom as they look to spring a major surprise in their first continental campaign since 2012-13.
All the pressure is on United, however, Ten Hag’s side should still be too strong on the night – especially given that Twente have won just one of their previous 13 matches against Premier League sides.

Unsurprisingly, United are heavy favourites here and at 1.30 for an opening day win. But Twente will not mind being the 8.60 underdogs as they aim to complete an upset.
Manchester United vs FC Twente Betting Tips
Double Dutch
Both sides have been unpredictable at times this season but we expect a strong performance from both. However, we think United’s quality will prevail in the end. Both teams to score and United to win is at 2.64.
Walk in the Marc
Over the last couple of games, United talisman Marcus Rashford seems to have regained some goalscoring form and we are backing him to replicate this against Twente. Rashford to score anytime is at 2.45.
Manc Account
The Red Devils will be hoping to make a big statement in front of their fans after last Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace. United to score over two goals in the match is at 1.57.
