Manchester United vs Tottenham Preview

These teams go into Sunday’s match on the back of contrasting performances in the Europa League.

United were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw by FC Twente, while Spurs beat Qarabag 3-0 despite having 10 men for the majority of the match.

As such, Ange Postecoglou’s side will really fancy the chance of making it three wins on the spin in all competitions after defeating Brentford 3-1 last weekend.

And with marquee summer signing Dominc Solanke finding the back of the net in each of the last two matches, Spurs may very well present another tough assignment for Erik ten Hag’s men.

The Dutch boss is yet to settle on his strongest XI moving forward, with new faces in Joshua Zirkzee and Manuel Ugarte still finding their way in English football.

But the Red Devils have at least looked like a stronger unit defensively so far this season, with Noussair Mazaroaui really impressing at right-back. Twente’s strike at Old Trafford is the only goal United have shipped in their previous four outings, which is a big positive for Ten Hag.

However, in that run, they did not contend with an attack as strong as Spurs’, with Solanke, Heung-Min Son, Brennan Johnson (who is really beginning to silence his critics), Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison beginning to gel as an attacking quintet.

Postecoglou’s gung-ho style of football may play into United’s hands, though, as they are a team who love to play on the counter.

The space left by Spurs’ full-backs will be a welcome present for the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo, who will be fed by in-form playmakers Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes.

We should be in for an absolute thriller at the Theatre of Dreams!

Manchester United vs Tottenham Odds

Home advantage means United open as the favourites at odds of 2.30. Spurs are at 2.80 to claim a big away victory, while the draw is 3.89.

Manchester United vs Tottenham Betting Tips

Dominic Solanke to score anytime @ 2.81

When a striker like Solanke gets on a roll in front of goal, it is hard to look past them scoring in any match. The Englishman is temptingly priced at 7.20 to strike first at Old Trafford.

Tottenham to win and both teams to score @ 3.88

While Spurs are the slight underdogs here, the recent form book suggests they should probably be at shorter odds. A win is certainly on the cards, although with set-piece frailty and a risky playing style, we cannot see them keeping a clean sheet.
