Ray Parlour's Premier League Matchday 7 Predictions

There is one Premier League Matchday left before the October international break and we have some cracking games to look forward to.

Liverpool’s trip to Crystal Palace kicks off the action on Saturday lunchtime, before title chasers Arsenal host Southampton in one of the 3pm kick-offs.

And it is certainly a Super Sunday that will have the footballing world captivated. Struggling Manchester United visit Aston Villa with Erik ten Hag’s job seemingly on the line, before Brighton and Tottenham clash in what should be a game full of attacking flair and high defensive lines.

So, with drama aplenty virtually guaranteed, we asked NetBet ambassador Ray Parlour to give his predictions for the four matches mentioned above.

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool | Parlour Predicts: 1-3

Ray says: “Liverpool can maintain their good start to the season with a win at struggling Crystal Palace. Arne Slot’s strikers are in great form and they can certainly breach the Palace defence a few times to secure another away victory.

“Slot has started really well at Liverpool and this bodes well for them as we head into another international break. Mohamed Salah is amongst the goals again and it would not surprise me to see him score at Selhurst Park this weekend.”

Arsenal vs Southampton | Parlour Predicts: 3-0

Ray says: “This should be a routine win for Arsenal, though we did think that when Leicester visited the Emirates last weekend. But the Gunners should learn from that and not let any potential lead slip as they also look to head into the international break unbeaten.

“Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka have been in great form and I expect them to deliver the goods once again. Mikel Arteta may rotate the XI and give Gabriel Jesus or Raheem Sterling a start, but even if he does change it up, Arsenal should gain maximum points.”

Aston Villa vs Manchester United | Parlour Predicts: 2-1

Ray says: “Unai Emery’s side will be full of confidence as they welcome United to Villa Park. A 1-0 Champions League win over Bayern Munich, a Jhon Duran goal being the difference, was enough to send the Villa faithful home in a buoyant mood on Wednesday.

“Barring a 2-0 home defeat to Arsenal, Villa have started the season in great form and will be looking to inflict more misery on United this weekend. With such a settled side, Villa should pick up all three points here. Only complacency could be an issue, but expect Emery to ensure it is not.”

Brighton vs Tottenham | Parlour Predicts: 2-2

Ray says: “After two wins and then an excellent 1-1 draw at Arsenal, Brighton have not hit those heights again. Two home draws against Ipswich and Nottingham Forest, followed by a 4-2 defeat at Chelsea courtesy of an inspired Cole Palmer, have meant this is a big game for the Seagulls.

“Spurs are flying right now. Brennan Johnson is a man in form and Dominic Solanke is starting to find his feet in front of goal. Brighton will have their hands full at the Amex, but if the hosts can rediscover their early season form, they can cause Spurs problems too. So, I am going for an entertaining 2-2 draw in this one.”
