Finland vs England Preview

Finland are having a torrid time in the 2024-25 Nations League, suffering three straight losses. Things looked to be improving last time out against the Republic of Ireland, but an 88th-minute Robbie Brady winner buried that dream.

The hosts will not be feeling too optimistic when the Three Lions visit this weekend, however, Greece’s victory at Wembley may give the Fins some much-needed hope.

But Finland will need Bundesliga champion and Bayer Leverkusen captain Lukas Hradecky to be in fine form between the posts to have any chance of earning their first points of the campaign.

Further forward, Rennes ace Glen Kamara will be the main connection between defence and attack, while a familiar face to English football fans in Teemu Pukki will look to be a threat either from the start or off the bench.

The last time these two faced off it was a very close encounter, with hosts England – who dominated possession at Wembley – only winning 2-0 thanks to two second-half goals from skipper Harry Kane.

But confidence levels in the Three Lions camp will be low after the defeat to Greece, with Carsely’s decision to go all-out-attack and field pretty much every attacking superstar available to him backfiring quite spectacularly.

The interim boss needs a big performance from his team if he wants to convince the England faithful and the FA that he is the man to succeed Gareth Southgate on a permanent basis. Carsley will also be hoping that the injury to Bukayo Saka is not too serious – and that Kane and Jack Grealish will be available for selection in Helsinki.

Finland vs England Betting Tips

No Kane No Gain

Carsley will be relying on the return of all-time England top scorer Kane on Sunday, as he is evidently so important to the team’s chances of winning. Kane to score and England to win is at 2.36.

Baby it’s Cole Outside

However, in the event that Kane is not able to play, England will look to one of their Premier League aces to supply the goals. Ollie Watkins is at 2.10 to score anytime, while Dominic Solanke is at 2.20 and Cole Palmer at 2.50.

Park the Bus

But it is entirely possible that Finland pull off a surprise and their defensive stubborn tactics pay off on home soil. The game to end 0-0 is intriguingly priced at 15.00.
