Ray Parlour’s Premier League Matchday 8 Predictions

The second international break of the 2024-25 season is over and us football lovers can now look towards the return of domestic action this weekend.

England may have a new manager in Thomas Tuchel, but much of the English footballing focus is on the latest round of Premier League fixtures.

Matchday 8 starts off in spectacular fashion on Saturday afternoon as West Ham visit Tottenham in a fierce London derby, while the penultimate of this weekend’s 10 fixtures is Chelsea’s trip to Liverpool.

They are two matches which are incredibly hard to call, but that has not stopped NetBet ambassador Ray Parlour from having a good go.

The ex-Arsenal midfielder has also offered his thoughts on the Gunners’ trip to Bournemouth in Saturday’s late kick-off, as well as Wolves vs Manchester City – which is Super Sunday’s opening act.

Read on for Parlour’s Predictions. And remember, here at NetBet we have all you need for betting, including great football odds. If you want to follow in Ray’s footsteps and predict the outcome of Premier League matches, then try out our free-to-play Correct Score Predictor!

Tottenham vs West Ham | Parlour Predicts: 2-1

Ray says: “After Spurs gave away a 2-0 lead at Brighton before the international break, they will surely be motivated to get back to winning ways at home to rivals West Ham.

“I am sure Ange Postecoglou was not happy with the performance at the Amex and will demand that his players come out on the front foot to ensure they bounce back with a London derby victory. Brennan Johnson has really impressed in recent games and James Maddison looks to be rediscovering his form.”

Bournemouth vs Arsenal | Parlour Predicts: 0-2

Ray says: “Arsenal have a couple of minor injury worries ahead of the game, with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli both doubts after suffering knocks with England and Brazil.

“However, with Arsenal’s defensive strength and the likes of Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz all in good form, Mikel Arteta’s side should still have too much for Bournemouth. The Gunners will know they have to keep on winning in order to keep pace with Man City and Liverpool at the top of the table.”

Wolves vs Manchester City | Parlour Predicts: 1-2

Ray says: “Man City do not have an amazing record at Wolves and the home side are desperate for a result. Gary O’Neil’s team have had a really tough start to the season, already playing Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

“But I suspect Man City will get the job done here and Erling Haaland will be amongst the goals once again, with Jack Grealish playing a big part – having been back in the England squad and playing really well against Finland.”

Liverpool vs Chelsea | Parlour Predicts: 2-2

Ray says: “The game of the weekend, without any doubt! Expect goals in this one with all the forward-thinking stars on show. Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz are all in good form for Liverpool, they will be very happy with their respective starts to the season.

“But this is their first big test against a good side, so it will be interesting to see how they perform. Defensively, Liverpool have been excellent, but Chelsea do offer a big threat. Noni Madueke, Nicolas Jackson and star man Cole Palmer are likely to cause Liverpool a lot of problems, so I am going for a high-scoring draw in this one.”
