New York Knicks to win vs Boston Celtics @ 2.55

As is tradition in the NBA, the reigning champions – on this occasion, the Celtics – tip off on opening night. Predictably, the Celtics go into this one as favourites, but the Knicks might be able to pull off an upset with their new-look starting five.

The Knicks have added Karl Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges – two moves that have made them our second favourites (behind the Celtics) to finish as number one seed in the Eastern Conference. So, what better way to prove their credentials by beating the NBA champions in their own arena in the season curtain-raiser?

LA Lakers vs Minnesota Timberwolves: Player To Score 20 Points or More – Anthony Edwards @ 1.14

With Towns traded to the Knicks, Edwards is without doubt the star player at the Timberwolves and with their opening game against Lebron and the Lakers, he will be looking to put on a show.

After breaking into the top 10 for assists per game last year, he will look to do the same in the scoring charts as he aims to consolidate his position as one of the most dynamic and entertaining players in the league.

Philadelphia 76ers to beat Milwaukee Bucks @ 1.60

Despite making some astute trades, most notably Damian Lillard, the Bucks have been on a downward trajectory since winning the chip in 2021. The last two seasons have seen them crash out of the playoffs in the first round, losing to Miami Heat in 2022-23 and the Indiana Pacers in 2023-24.

Meanwhile, the 76ers have similarly underperformed in the past couple of years, but with the addition of Paul George to their roster, they might believe they can at least be contenders in the East. We see them getting off to a winning start.

Golden State Warriors vs Portland Trail Blazers: Total Points Under 226.5 @ 1.90

Both these teams finished outside the Western Conference playoff places last year, as they continued their respective declines from previous lofty heights.

The Trail Blazers rebuild began when they traded star player Lillard to the Bucks in 2023, and subsequently finished last in the Western Conference last term. Elsewhere, the legendary Warriors dynasty core – resurrected in the 2022 Championship win – lost Klay Thompson this off-season, separating the famous Splash Brothers double act with Steph Curry. So, we do not fancy these two teams to get to the overall points target.
