Chelsea vs Arsenal Preview
The Gunners will still be reeling from their energy-sapping 1-0 loss to Inter Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Despite dominating possession and creating chances, Arteta’s side slipped to a third defeat in four across all competitions.
The only silver lining was the return of captain Martin Odegaard from an ankle injury, the Norwegian coming on for the final few minutes at San Siro.
But the mood in the Arsenal camp cannot be good ahead of their final fixture before the November international break.
In contrast, Chelsea are set to be in far better shape heading into Sunday’s match, albeit sweating on the fitness of talisman Cole Palmer.
Maresca’s watched on as his second-string XI beat FC Noah 8-0 in the Europa Conference League on Thursday, all while the likes of Moises Caicedo, Nicolas Jackson, Reece James, Levi Colwill, Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke got the night off to prepare for the London derby.
So if Chelsea do not come out full of energy on Sunday and look to take the game to a wounded Arsenal side, the manager will have no excuses.
The onus will be on the Gunners’ defence, which has not looked as solid in recent times, to try and thwart the Blues’ fluid attack. Only Manchester City and Tottenham have scored more goals than Maresca’s side this season.
But Arsenal will take solace in the fact that while their own front line is not quite clicking, Chelsea do offer chances aplenty to pretty much every side they face.
So it will be down to the visitors to weather what we expect to be an early storm and then aim to try to catch out their opponents in transition through key outlet Bukayo Saka.
Last season, this match produced an entertaining 2-2 draw, with Arsenal coming from 2-0 down. Expect similar levels of drama and chaos this time around, as this fixture rarely disappoints!
Chelsea vs Arsenal Odds
*All odds are subject to change
Arsenal may be on a rotten run of form, but they are still the favourites at odds of 2.43. Chelsea are at 2.82, while the draw is 3.35.
Injury doubt Palmer is the clear favourite in the first scorer market at 6.60, while Kai Havertz and Saka are both 7.80.
Chelsea vs Arsenal Betting Tips
Nicolas Jackson to score anytime @ 3.51
While Palmer is rightly the headline maker in this Chelsea side, Jackson has been a standout performer too. The Senegal striker has already bagged six Premier League goals in 10 matches so far in 2024-25.
Chelsea over 2.5 cards in the match @ 1.75
Maresca’s Blues have collected 38 yellow cards so far this season, five more than any other side in the division. In a heated London derby, we expect them to add at least three more to that total.
Chelsea to be leading at half-time, full-time result a draw @ 10.00
As we previously mentioned, Chelsea should come flying out the traps. But Arsenal have the tools, particularly from set-pieces, to drag themselves back into the game in the second half. As such, these odds look too good to turn down!
