Power Slap is now a global phenomenon and it is only continuing to grow in popularity.
With regular big events being staged and captivating millions of fans, the combat sports promotion is only going in one direction – and that direction is up!
After the entertainment witnessed at Power Slap 9, the Power Slap 10 festival is just around the corner.
With more hard-hitting entertainment set to be broadcasted across the globe, NetBet takes a quick look at the incredible rise of Power Slap.
Power Slap’s History
Founded in 2022 by UFC head honcho Dana White, Power Slap has gone from a pre-recorded episode-based series to live events packed with headline-grabbing contests.
Power Slap 1 was the first of these major events and was staged in Las Vegas, Nevada.
That event took place in March of 2023 and in the time since then, eight more have taken place, with all of them being shown on streaming service Rumble.
Each one has been better than the last and this is a trend that only looks set to continue, with Power Slap 10 seeing the promotion return to Sin City to host a number of thrilling title fights.
Power Slap Goes International
Speaking of a return to Sin City, Power Slap 9 represented a watershed moment for the promotion.
Why is that? Well, the event was staged in Abu Dhabi, making it the first event to be held outside of the United States of America.
And Power Slap are ready to continue with their ventures in the Middle East.
Power Slap 11, scheduled for late January 2025, is set to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Boxing has experienced huge success in Saudi and Power Slap should enjoy a similar level of positivity from the exciting move, especially after the triumph that was the Abu Dhabi showpiece.
Social Media Star
While Power Slap is perhaps not quite mainstream in the UK just yet (although it is certainly popular), the social media growth of the promotion worldwide really is something to behold.
At the time of writing, the Power Slap page on Instagram has over 5 million followers, which is more than some Premier League clubs!
On Twitter, the follower count is more modest at around 55,000, but on the platform it is commonplace to see big knockouts from Power Slap events go viral.
And on YouTube, over 3 million people subscribe to Power Slap content, further highlighting the enormous growth.
White recently said: “Some of you were there and heard me in the early days, I said this will be the biggest sport in the world. This will be bigger than the UFC.”
Who knows, he might prove to be right…
