Premier League Matchday 13 – Betting Tips

With no more international break interruptions until next year, English football is on the cusp of the relentless winter period that keeps fans so engaged.

Domestic league and cup action takes centre stage as some teams look to consolidate their early season form, while others hope to kick-start their campaigns as they see out the calendar year.

We have got some tips for a weekend Acca that we think could add a little something extra to the action.

Ipswich to beat Nottingham Forest @ 4.90

A big call to start, but we have looked at the trajectory of the two teams in recent weeks and we think this could be a sneaky value-builder.

Forest have had a barely believable start to the season, but they have lost their last two games against Newcastle and Arsenal, while Ipswich – though still in the relegation zone –  are unbeaten in three, which gives an indication that they are starting to get to grips with life in the Premier League.

At the tempting price of 4.90, this could certainly be our hipster’s choice.

Arsenal to beat West Ham United @ 1.44

What a difference having your best players fit makes, eh? That is what Arsenal fans will be thinking following a difficult couple of months. In the two games since the last international break, the Gunners have two comfortable wins against Forest (3-0) and Sporting (5-1) to help alleviate fears of a season ending prematurely.

West Ham have endured a difficult start that has seen recently appointed manager Julen Lopetegui under immediate pressure, but Monday night’s win at St James’ Park has kept his head above water for the time being.

We reckon Arsenal to make it three wins on the bounce in this one.

Chelsea to beat Aston Villa @ 1.72

Just a single win in their last five has seen Villa drop out of the top four, as Unai Emery struggles to stop the bleeding.

And though Chelsea have only managed two wins during the same period, they have come up against the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.

Enzo Maresca has really started to get a consistent tune out of this young, talented Chelsea group of players, and we expect that to continue as they face a Villa side that are perhaps in a low ebb at present.

Liverpool vs Manchester City – Both Teams to Score @ 1.47

It is the big fixture of the weekend, so we had to include it, but we are not quite brave enough to call the result despite City’s incredibly uncharacteristic run of form.

In case you have been living under a rock recently, Pep’s side have gone six (6!) games without a win in all competitions, losing five in a row. Three of those five defeats have occurred in the league, but City somehow still occupy second place behind this weekend’s opponents Liverpool, albeit with a substantial eight-point gap.

We think that, whatever the result, both teams will carry enough threat to score at least a goal each.
