It is another of the many London derbies that fans of the Premier League will be treated to this season. And it is certainly one of the most fiercely contested, as Tottenham Hotspur take on Chelsea.
Spurs continue to be riddled with inconsistencies, as they move from the barely believable highs of trouncing champions Manchester City 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium to the humbling lows of handing newly-promoted Ipswich Town their first win of the season.
Chelsea, meanwhile, have consolidated a positive start under Enzo Maresca by starting to truly convince observers that they are worthy not only of a place in the top four, but perhaps ambitious enough to mount a surprise title challenge.

Tottenham vs Chelsea Preview
Throughout the history of the Premier League, this fixture has been littered with incident, controversy, and drama, making it one of the most anticipated events of every season.
As recently as in this fixture last year was the engrossing 4-1 win for Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. It was a match that saw Spurs 1-0 up as early as the sixth minute through Dejan Kulusevski, before having Cristian Romero (obviously) sent off in the first half that resulted in a penalty converted by Cole Palmer, and Destiny Udogie sent off early in the second.
One of the main talking points was the fact that Ange Postecoglou refused to play defensively despite only having nine men, persistent with a suicidal high line that was eventually breached a further three times. Though the majority criticised his decision, there was some praise as it took a sloppy Chelsea until the 75th minute to take the lead for the first time in the match, 20 minutes after the home side went down to nine players.
It was after this result that Tottenham’s brilliant start to last season began to unravel, having been unbeaten until meeting Chelsea on Matchday 11. It prompted a run of four defeats in five that really took the wind out of their sails and it could be argued that they have not really recovered since, as their 2024 has been defined by inconsistency. In their last five league fixtures, they have beaten Aston Villa, lost to Ipswich, beaten City, drew with Fulham and, most recently, lost to Bournemouth. This pattern is beginning to irk some sections of the fan base, putting pressure on Postecoglou’s position as manager.
It has been an opposite story for Maresca and Chelsea, who have certainly overperformed expectations in this early part of the season. The Blues have not suffered defeat since the narrow loss at Anfield at the end of October, stringing together a run of six unbeaten, which has included four wins and respectable draws with Manchester United and Arsenal.
And that is what makes this game so intriguing; will Tottenham be able to muster another big performance out of nowhere that delights and frustrates fans in equal measure? Or will Chelsea continue their dominant run in this fixture that has seen them lose only once in their last 10 meetings with the Lilywhites?

Tottenham vs Chelsea Betting Tips
Both Teams to Score – Yes @ 1.31
We do not see how there are not gonna be goals in this one. Spurs play a high line that Chelsea will look to expose, while the hosts will pose their own threat on the counter attack.
First Team to Score – Tottenham @ 2.00
Spurs usually start very quickly at home, so we would not be surprised if they opened the scoring in this fixture like they did last year. What happens after that though is anyone’s guess.
