Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for the first golf major of 2025!
Excitement levels are building, with this year also containing the thrilling competition that is the Ryder Cup, which will take place in late September.
But first up is the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club and all eyes will be on World No1 and defending champion Scottie Scheffler.
The American is far and away the best golfer on the planet right now and stopping him in the state of Georgia will be tough.
However, when it comes to the Masters, surprises are commonplace and the pre-tournament favourite rarely goes on to claim the trophy and the iconic green jacket.

The Masters 2025 Preview
The Masters begins properly on April 10 after the pros play their practice rounds and the Par 3 contest.
As per usual, a lot of focus from British shores will be on World No2 Rory McIlroy, who is still yet to win the tournament.
The Northern Irishman needs only the Masters to add to his CV in order to complete the career Grand Slam.
McIlroy has come close to glory on numerous occasions, perhaps most famously in 2011, when he led by four shots entering the final round only to suffer from ‘Masters Meltdown’ and finish tied for 15th.
He has form on his side this time around, having won the Players Championship back in March.
But even a man with McIlroy’s experience will be well aware of the quality possessed by Scheffler, who is looking to win this event for the third time in just four years and is close to unbeatable when at his best.
Other major contenders for the big prize include reigning US Open champion Bryson Dechambeau, the brilliant Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele, the winner of last year’s PGA Championship and Open Championship.
Ludvig Aberg and Colin Morikawa are two other highly-ranked players who are attracting a lot of attention – and deservedly so following impressive runs of form.
Sadly for golf fans and general sports lovers alike, five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods has been ruled out of participation due to a serious Achilles injury.
