Man City vs Sheffield United Preview
Man City are huge favourites to progress to the final, as well as go on to lift the trophy for the first time since 2019. They head to Wembley in incredible form having closed the gap on Arsenal at the top of the Premier League and booked a spot in the Champions League final.
Sheffield United are also flying high – the Blades need just five points from their final four Championship games to secure their promotion back to the top flight. Despite winning six of their last seven matches, there won’t be too many backing them to cause an upset at Wembley.
The last time City faced Championship opposition, plenty thought Burnley would cause them serious problems. The reality was a 6-0 thumping on Vincent Kompany’s return to the Etihad. Sure, Sheffield United will bring plenty of fight to the table but it’s tough to see how they can compete with City over 90 minutes.
The only four meetings between these sides since 2008 have come in the Premier League. City have won all four without conceding a goal. Pep Guardiola’s side look ruthless this season, and Paul Heckingbottom’s Sheffield United are the unfortunate team that stand in the way of a place in the final for City.
FA Cup Semi-Final Odds
There isn’t much value in a City win at 1.15, but those backing Sheffield United will benefit from huge odds of 14.00. Both teams to score is enough to double your stake at 2.02, with either side to keep a clean sheet heavily backed at 1.74.
Erling Haaland is leading the odds to open the scoring at 2.63, followed by Julian Alvarez (4.20), Riyad Mahrez (6.80) and Jack Grealish (8.00). If you’re backing Sheffield United to get off to a flying start, Ollie McBurnie and Billy Sharp are favourites to break the deadlock at 17.00.
Man City vs Sheffield United Betting Tips
Man City win to nil – 1.88
We’re expecting a one-sided affair. That’s no disrespect to Sheffield United – City have just been that good in recent weeks. They are keeping clean sheets for fun with their new inverted full-back setup and will almost certainly be on the scoresheet at the other end.
Haaland to score at any time and under 3.5 match goals – 3.40
The first part doesn’t need much explaining. Haaland has scored 14 goals in his last six appearances, including five against RB Leipzig and a hat-trick in the previous round against Burnley. Although we think City will be comfortable victors, it’s unlikely to be a complete drubbing – it is a semi-final at Wembley after all, and the Blades will be up for it.
