The Oaks is one of the most historic races in the country, with only the St Leger at Doncaster being run for longer. The race is contested exclusively by three-year-old fillies and takes place over a mile-and-a-half course at the world-renowned Epsom Downs. As one of the most competitive races in the British Champions series, it’s definitely not one to miss.
Iconic figures will be up for the prize again, like jockey Frankie Dettori, who has won four of the last 20 races and will be hoping to add to his tally. World-renowned trainer AP O’Brien has eight winners in the last 20 runs of the Oaks.

This year’s race looks to be a fascinating one, as the whole field can be considered as contenders. That being said, this year’s favourite is Ylang Ylang, trained by the well-respected O’Brien. Ylang Ylang has an impressive 50% win rate in her flat racing career, with three wins in six.
Next in line is Danielle, who is less impressive in name but certainly not in racing terms. Danielle recently ran an incredible race at the Wetherby Novice and will be hoping for a repeat performance at Epsom.
Another favourite is Forest Fairy. Trained by R.M Beckett, she has had a string of notable victories at Chester and Wolverhampton. Ridden by Rossa Ryan, Forest Fairy definitely looks good ahead of the Oaks.
See The Fire and Tamafana are also outsiders that perhaps could be given some thought. With impressive results in recent races and wins under their belt, they definitely should not be counted out. Especially if you’re looking for an outside bet.
