Champions League Draw Reaction

The league phase draw for the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League has now been completed and there are some mouth-watering ties set to be played over the course of the next few months.

Of course, the competition has now been expanded from 32 teams to 36 and each side will now play eight matches (four at home, four away), rather than the previous six group games.

The top eight teams after the completion of the new league phase will automatically qualify for the knockout rounds, while the teams in ninth to 24th will compete in two-legged play-offs to secure a spot in the Round of 16. Those ranked 25th to 36th are eliminated from all European competitions.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at the results of the latest Champions League draw, as well as the outright odds ahead of Matchday 1.

Premier League Reaction

Focusing on the four Premier League teams involved in this year’s Champions League, it is not going to be easy for any of them (teams from the same division cannot be drawn against each other in the league phase).

Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool face a few tough examinations against some of the best teams in Europe, although their strength at home should see the trio finish in the top eight and automatically qualify for the knockout stage.

Liverpool vs Real Madrid is a real standout fixture, while Arsenal’s trip to the San Siro to face Inter Milan has the potential to be an absolute cracker.

Elsewhere, City’s journeys to Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus have ‘potential upset’ written all over them.

And for Aston Villa, the draw perhaps could not have gone any better. Unai Emery’s side will welcome some huge names to Villa Park in Bayern Munich, Juventus and Celtic – and you just know the atmosphere at each of those fixtures will be amazing!

Qualification will not be easy, though. However, it is PSG who have the hardest draw on paper. The French side will lock horns with City, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid. Good luck, Luis Enrique…
